• Bay Discovery Centre

    Located at Glenelg in the former Town Hall, the Bay Discovery Centre features multimedia interpretive displays and changing exhibitions, with volunteers welcoming visitors to Adelaide’s most popular beach.

The Bay Discovery Centre is a social history museum celebrating the cultural heritage of South Australia. The Museum is a haven for history and art lovers and is housed in the iconic Town Hall in the heart of Glenelg.

The Centre encompasses Glenelg’s Visitor Information Centre, social history museum and a ground floor gallery.

The ground floor gallery offers a changing exhibition program celebrating both South Australia’s history, and the work of South Australian emerging and established artists.

Permanent exhibitions include Voyage and Arrival, Colonel William Light – Soldier/Surveyor/Founder of a City, The Proclamation, Sir Douglas Mawson: Knight of Brighton and the Violet Rowe Swimsuit Collection 1930-1960.

The Bay Discovery Centre and Holdfast Bay History Centre are initiatives of the City of Holdfast Bay and together function as a museum, along with the Glenelg Air Raid Shelter.
