• Pioneers Association of South Australia

    Established in 1935, the Pioneers Association seeks primarily to preserve the memory of those pioneers who arrived in South Australia during the first ten years of colonisation. The Association maintains a library and archive at its premises in Leigh Street, Adelaide, which the public is invited to access.

The Pioneers Association of South Australia Inc was founded in 1935 on the eve of the celebrations for the centenary of the founding of South Australia. Its principal aims are:

  • To foster an interest in, and to perpetuate the memory of the pioneers who contributed to the early settlement of South Australia
  • To collect, record and share accurate records for the benefit of present and future generations
  • To encourage the preservation of historical materials associated with early South Australia
  • To promote awareness of early South Australian history
  • To engage with the wider community and to collaborate with organisations that share an interest in the history of South Australia.

The Association currently has approximately 600 members from South Australia, interstate and overseas.
