The group formed in 2013 to research and record the history of ‘our part of the Adelaide Hills’. The twin towns of Forest Range and Lenswood have a tightly woven history that typifies small towns in rural Australia. We are not, at this stage, storing artifacts, but are scanning and sharing photographs and documents via our websites and Facebook page and public Facebook group. Our focus has been on oral histories, stories of local characters and places past and present.
In 2017 Lenswood celebrated the town’s 100th anniversary. The Forest Range and Lenswood History Group held a Centenary Picnic on 15 October 2017 at Lenswood Memorial Park, and published a book of the photos and stories collected entitled That’s all for you! From a post office a township grew – Lenswood 100 years.
