Formed to document, save, conserve and restore Mylor’s built and physical heritage (where feasible), the Mylor Heritage Society aims to make tangible history available to the public and to provide education and training in these areas.
The society grew out of an action group called SOBS (Save our Bootmaker’s Shop) established in 2009 to restore a condemned ruined cottage, once used by bootmaker Johnny Staples, in Sherry Park on the Strathalbyn Road in Mylor. The building was restored using voluntary labour and an interpretive sign created with funding from the History Trust.
