• Mylor History Group

Mylor History Group, seeks to learn about and preserve the history of the people and events in Mylor South Australia.

Established in 2006, the group gathers information about Mylor’s past.

Their main activities include recording oral histories of people with strong connections to the area, thus gathering valuable records of Mylor’s past; gathering and cataloguing documents, photographs, artefacts, and ephemera; preserving and digitising old films of Mylor events; creating history displays at community events including Anzac Day; conducting history walks; organising Anzac Day and Remembrance Day services; researching Mylor men and women who rendered wartime service; storing archival material at the Mylor Hall; maintaining good working relationships with other history groups in the Adelaide Hills.

The group stores and catalogues their archival material at the Mylor Cotton Memorial Hall.

The History Room at the Mylor Cotton Memorial Hall on Strathalbyn Road, Mylor, will be OPEN on the 2nd Friday of each month – starting 9th Feb. 2024 from 10am to 12 noon.

You are invited to browse through local family histories or the histories of those soldiers who are listed on our Mylor War Memorial.  As well, there are books, pamphlets and lots of other very interesting information about the past history of businesses and individuals from Mylor.

Come and chat to Merrilyn – look at school records and share in the history of this very interesting village.

There is no charge – and you can enjoy a cuppa with some of the other Mylor locals.  All welcome.
