Nestled toward the top of Flinders Park (behind Mill Cottage), Settlers Cottage was purpose built as part of a Government Skills Training Initiative. It was officially opened on 6 November 1987 by the Hon Lynn MF Arnold, Minister of State Development and Technology, Minister of Employment and Further Education. Construction was of ‘Duckpond’ stone, often used in many early dwellings in our town.
Settlers Cottage is home to kitchenalia, clothing, household objects and tools, mostly from the late 1800s to mid-1900s. The museum also has for public perusal a number of old newspapers, scrap books, documents and photographs highlighting the same era.
The objects in the museum have been collected by the Port Lincoln Pioneer and Descendants Club.
