• Walkerville Historical Society

Disbanded in 2018, the group recorded, preserved and promoted the local history of Walkerville districts. The local history collection can be found at Walkerville Library.

The Walkerville Historical Society was disbanded in 2018.  As well as meeting regularly, the group assisted researcher access to their extensive digital archive, gave talks and presentations to schools, provided info for walking groups and had exhibition posters available for loan. The 16 page Walkerville Times newsletter featuring stories linked with Walkerville was published bimonthly (5 issues/year).

The local history collection is kept at Walkerville Public Library (in the former Town Hall), and includes oral histories; speaker meeting recordings; extensive digital photographic archive of old and new including houses in the district; digital extraction of council assessments 1858 to 2000 and council minutes 1855 to 1995; extensive digital records of local people and places; digitized local history books, and donations of memorabilia.
