• Yankalilla & District Historical Society

    The Society aims to collect, record, preserve and publish any events, photographs and related stories, and any other items of historical interest in the district.

The Yankalilla and District Historical Society Inc. was formed in 1977 and aims to promote community interest in local history, encourage the preservation of historical buildings and sites, and collect and record items of historical interest in the district.

Books on local history are also published by the society including: To Find the Way; Early Settlers in the Yankalilla District; Churches of the Fleurieu Peninsula; Schools of the Fleurieu Peninsula; Old Normanville; Old Yankalilla; Old Delamere; Old Torrens Vale and Hay Flat.

General meetings are held at 7.30pm on the second Monday of the months of February, March, April, September, October, November. The Society goes into recess during the winter months.

Every Wednesday from 10am-12noon members of the Historical Society volunteer to help researchers consult their records at the Yankalilla Community Library. Please contact us for an appointment.
