• Holdfast Bay History Centre

The Holdfast Bay History Centre cares for the local history collection, conducts guided walks and assists people with family history research.

Based at Ringwood House in Brighton, the Holdfast Bay History Centre aims to promote an awareness of the City of Holdfast Bay’s history and heritage. History Centre volunteers are on hand to assist with your research needs including family history, property history and historic burial enquiries at both St Jude’s Cemetery and North Brighton Cemetery.

The Centre collects and preserves material relating to the Holdfast Bay area with a strong focus on the people, buildings and events of the area. Items from the collection are regularly on display at the Bay Discovery Centre. To make a donation to the collection, please contact the Centre’s coordinator for further information.

Guided walks, bus tours and open houses are arranged during South Australia’s History Festival or by appointment through the History Centre.

Holdfast Bay History Centre and the Bay Discovery Centre are initiatives of the City of Holdfast Bay and together function as a museum, along with the Glenelg Air Raid Shelter.
